David Jones ambassadors Victoria Lee and Jessica Gomes, along with special guests model mum Gemma Ward and catwalk newcomer Cameron Robbie — AKA Margot Robbie’s brother — have joined forces for the launch of the retailer’s autumn winter collections.

The glamour launch, known as The Art of Living, goes beyond the traditional runway with a two-day immersive experience that also showcases all the best in home, food, beauty, health and wellness at MONA in Hobart.

The day kicked off in style with a gourmet brunch at hip MONA eatery The Source, focusing on food and home, followed later in the day by a spectacular runway and progressive cocktail experience showcasing the best of international and Australian new season designer collections.

Gomes and Lee are two of the most stylish women in the country and they’ll be helping to reveal what’s hot in lifestyle and fashion for autumn and winter this year.

“Tasmania is such a beautiful place. I have been a few times before and I’m looking forward to exploring Hobart and being a part of the incredible David Jones season launch,” Gomes said earlier this week.

“Tasmania has incredible produce and I can’t wait to try everything. I am a huge fan of James Turrell and can’t wait to see his work again at MONA.”

Lee is also excited about her visit to Hobart.

“I have only been on one quick trip, so I am very much looking forward to experiencing it properly over two days,” she said.

David Jones general manager of womenswear and accessories, Bridget Veals, said the edgy MONA at Berriedale was seen as a good fit for the two-day celebration of the retail giant’s fashion, beauty, home and lifestyle brands.

“Tasmania is the perfect backdrop to showcase our autumn-winter offering and Mona, as Australia’s leading contemporary museum, aligns perfectly with our campaign creative, The Art of Living,” she said.

“It sets the tone for the season and is designed to inspire customers to shop cross-category as we showcase a wide range of Australian and international style.”

STARS FROCK UP FOR LUNCH

The two day launch at contemporary art gallery MONA has had a focus on food and home wares with a spectacular lunch featuring 62 edible elements in the lavish table decorations alone.

Chef Vince Trim said the meal took a week to prepare and included cricket grissini, native grasses and fermented cucumber peels.

“It is all about the natural environment and nature,” he said.

ADAM GOODES AND TERESA PALMER MAKE A SPLASH

There was a definite South Australian flavour to the David Jones Art of Entertaining event at Hobart’s Museum of New and Old Art.

Wallaroo-born AFL legend turned DJs ambassador Adam Goodes made the Acknowledgement of country before he and 65 guests sat down to lunch.

Joining Adam and fellow ambassadors Gomes and Lee, were Adelaide-born actress Teresa Palmer and her husband/director Mark Webber who enjoyed the vegan option.

Other VIPs included Gemma Ward and Cameron Robbie who both modelled in last night’s runway show at The Void.

Excited to be seated next to Cameron, who is the brother of Margot Robbie’s, at the lunch, was Adelaide’s Alyce Tran the co-founder of multi-million dollars accessories empire The Daily Edited.

Former lawyer Alyce was there with her fashionista sister Caroline Tran who was one of the stylists at last year’s Adelaide Fashion Festival. While the two are seven years apart in age, they were like two peas in a pod obviously enjoying the close bond they share as they joked how they are frequently mistaken for one another.

SNEAK PEEK OF THE RUNWAY

“The Art of Living’ autumn winter season at David Jones is about expressing yourself with colour and texture,” David Jones General Manager of Womenswear and Accessories, Bridget Veals said.

“A strong injection of colour and prints features heavily in this season’s buy which translate beautifully across all categories. With striking shades highlighted across the campaign and collections instore such as bright prints, muted blues, and warm neutrals, it’s a welcome departure from the darker palette we traditionally see on the runway at this time of year.”
